The ongoing partnership between Laura Hodges Studio and Grothouse consistently yields artisan-quality furniture and surfaces that elevate every design, and this project was no exception. “I had a fabulous experience working with Grothouse for the 2023 Southern Living Idea House,” Laura Hodges shares, “It was great to review my design ideas with Paul and then get into the technical aspects with the design team. The entire process was very streamlined and professional, with beautiful samples that were very accurate to the final products and detailed drawings that properly conveyed my design ideas.”
Exploring New Surfaces with Grothouse

“I always learn a lot when I work with Grothouse, but this time, it was great to better understand the new Anvil™ Metal collection that we used for the Party Barn kitchenette,” Laura Hodges reflects. “This material was so unique for this project, and I loved the flexibility it gave me to show the readers and visitors a new idea for countertops. There are so many options available to fully customize the final product and make it exactly what we needed for the project.”
When asked about her favorite Grothouse product or piece from the 2023 Southern Living Idea House, Laura shares, “I love the Walnut countertops we did in the Laundry Room! The surface is so smooth to the touch, and the grain pattern is stunning. I’m so glad we were able to work the layout with the design team to make sure there was no compromise in the fabrication or design of the countertop. We even integrated a functional ledge around the dog washing station for a continuous counter surface all around the room. This Walnut countertop truly elevated this utilitarian space and created a beautiful moment for everyday use.”
