Butcher Block Countertops with Juice Grooves

The essential addition to butcher block surfaces

Butcher Block Countertops reach a new level of functionality with Juice Grooves. When using your surface primarily for direct chopping and food preparation, juice grooves are essential for effortless cleanup. The integrated tracks collect moisture from fruits, meats, and vegetables, and help to avoid messes, such as drips onto the floor. They are commonly used on smaller butcher block countertops that flank both sides of the stove.

The Maple Butcher Block Countertop shown to the left is an example of a Juice Groove designed around one section of the countertop and into the undermount sink.

Designing | Butcher Block Countertops with Juice Grooves

Designing Butcher Block Countertops with Juice Grooves can be as simple or complex as you desire. The most popular Countertop Edge Profiles are simple eased or Roundover Edge Profiles. In contrast, adding a Juice Groove to a more complex edge detail results in a very beautiful and functional piece. The grooves can be done in a basic border or carved in as a design feature such as a tree, name, or any shape. Juice grooves that frame the butcherblock remain the most popular. The grooves can also be carved to drain into a sink, as shown below. If you have a specific design you are interested in, we’d be happy to review your vision. Please email glumber@glumber.com.

Finishing | Butcher Block Countertops with Juice Grooves

Butcher Blocks with Juice Grooves are finished with Grothouse Original Oil™. The oil is heavy-duty and hypoallergenic; it does not contain any nut oils and can be used safely for homeowners and guests with nut allergies. Butcher Blocks should be oiled regularly to protect the wood. A good rule of thumb is to oil the butcher block a minimum of once per month or when the wood appears visually dry. The frequency of oiling will vary based on the environment and cleaning products used on the butcher block. Butcher Blocks cannot be finished with our Durata® Finish and cannot be stained.

Butcher Block Countertops with Juice Grooves ship in two to three weeks and arrive with a lifetime warranty.
