Every July, House Beautiful Magazine takes center stage in Rockefeller Center and builds The Kitchen Of The year. The 2500 square foot kitchen is designed by Mick De Giulio, a renowned kitchen designer. Mick’s vision boasts a kitchen, complete with a butler’s pantry, seating and dining areas and two outdoor living spaces. The space embraces the kitchen as being the gathering place of the home. There is so much to explore and the attention to detail is nothing short of impressive.
The main kitchen area is defined by a large island and is center stage for the casual seating and dining area opposite of the room. The large kitchen island is designed for food preparation and seating. The white island cabinetry is complimented by Grothouse Wenge wood countertops with an integrated bowl. The bowl is handy for fruits and vegetables or to keep eggs from rolling off the countertop during food preparation.
The Wenge counter has a Shark Tooth mitered corner, highlighting Mick’s attention to personalization and detail. It is open to the public July 16-20, 2012 at Rockefeller Plaza, between 50-51st Streets, New York City. There are guest appearances from top chefs such as Sandra Lee, Gabrielle Hamilton, Todd English, Carla Hall, plus cooking demonstrations from top New York City restaurants such as Gramercy Tavern, Blue Hill, and Aquavit.
