These two designers believe that the home nurtures the spirit. The functionality, comfort, and beauty of living spaces are seen as essential to well-being and happiness. Their expertise in design includes the ability to source quality materials and a promise to serve with diligence, honesty, and excitement. Through their partnership with Grothouse, Jill and Jesse design with confidence, knowing that their projects utilize the highest quality wood surfacing materials.

As engineers, both Jesse and Jill prioritize functionality through a meticulous client survey process that gathers essential information to uncover desired usability and flow. This thoughtful approach is the foundation upon which their designs are built. With every kitchen and bath project they take on, the goals are to meet practical needs while also bringing heightened levels of beauty, quality, and functionality to the living experience.

The kitchen at Scout’s House perfectly exemplifies how their designs achieve these goals.

Originally closed off from the front of the house dining area, the kitchen has been seamlessly opened to the front foyer, instantly welcoming guests with a focal point that exudes casual charm. The centerpiece, a beautifully crafted furniture-style cabinet topped with a premium Grothouse Walnut butcherblock, merges utility with aesthetic appeal. This functional and visually pleasing design invites cooks to engage seamlessly with their culinary tasks.

Integral to the kitchen’s ambiance are the dark wood ceiling beams, envisioned in the project’s initial stages. These architectural marvels harmoniously complement the rich walnut top, creating a unified visual narrative.

The walnut shelf beneath the apron sink and the woven leather counter stools further enrich the space, achieving a perfect balance of rustic allure and modern sophistication.

Jarrett Design’s philosophy resonates with their appreciation for wood’s unique qualities. “Wood has an allure that can’t be duplicated by any other material. Nothing brings warmth to a project like wood does. And aren’t we all seeking a little warmth? Grothouse has figured out how to make these tops easy to live with – your clients will love them!”

Their sentiment underscores the natural allure of wood, a material that speaks volumes with its organic beauty and comforting presence. Wood tops, with their warmth and softness, beckon people to gather and connect, offering a coziness unmatched by other materials.

The synergy between elegant design and the warmth of natural materials creates a space that feels timeless and inviting, a testament to Jarrett Design’s remarkable design and engineering prowess.

Jill also holds a special fondness for Grothouse’s Anvil™-edged shelves and full Anvil™ tops. Anvil, exclusively available at Grothouse, is a unique finish that incorporates fine metal particulates into solid wood surfaces, resulting in a stunning metal finish on a solid wood base, allowing for shapes and contouring not possible with sheet metal. Anvil™ accents and elements add a touch of artistry to their designs, showcasing their keen eye for detail and innovation. As they pitch this idea to clients for upcoming projects, there is a palpable excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead.

Located in Emmaus, PA, Jarrett Design has a state of the art showroom and has been a valued partner for years. This month, we celebrate our continued partnership with Jarrett Design and their work at Scout’s House, a masterpiece that epitomizes the harmonious blend of function and beauty with a spotlight on warm wood.
