It works well with machine and hand tools. Surfaces that have been worked from planing, turning, and moulding come out clean and smooth. It takes stain wonderfully and is able to be brought to an excellent finish. Cocobolo heartwood is highly durable and resistant to preservative treatment. Cocobolo wood is typically used for furniture and cabinet making. Its look and feel is oily due to a high natural oil content from the wood. Cocobolo is only available in Edge grain and End grain.

Origin: West Coast and Pacific Areas of Central America

Color: Purple to yellow with black markings which turn to deep orange-red
