About the Wood Surfaces

The display featured on the cover of the pamphlet included a hand planed Walnut wood counter for the kitchen island. Hand Planed wood surfaces look heavily distressed to mimic the natural, elemental wear of wood that is seen over time. The process in hand planed artistry is done very carefully to assure that the wear does not look “purposeful” or “factory made”.

The wood counter features a 1/8″ Roundover edge profile. Plato Woodwork provided us with a sample to custom stain match the counter to. It includes a glaze and was sealed with our exclusive Durata® Waterproof Permanent Finish in Matte sheen.

The next design featured an Ash wood Pastore™ waterfall table. Designers use Pastore™ tables to integrate wood surfaces into their contemporary and transitional designs. They find the addition of the wood surfaces helps improve the warmth and live- ability of any room. Using wood also helps quiet down a room and adds an organic textural element.
